What did we do that night? We must have walked wrapped around each other to a café that was a church and eaten a Greek salad that tasted like a wedding feast. We met a cat who agreed to be best man and our bouquets were Ragged Robin from the side of the canal. We had about two thousand guests, mostly midges and we felt old enough to give ourselves away. It would have been good to have lain down there and made love under the moon but the truth is that, outside of the movies and Country and Western songs, the outdoors is an itchy business.

My brother just got me this book and I already felt like quoting all of the first pages. What are your favorite bits from the book?

| And there is time to kill today by Booterang aka Nymeria (NC-17) |
[ | 07/18/2009 @ 12:40PM ] |
Fandom: Supernatural Pairing: Dean/Sam Length: 4.990 Author on LJ: booterang Why this must be read:
This fic is another example from the early days of Supernatural but 3 years down the line, you can still read it as a future!fic. It works just as beautifully.
Basically, this is going to give you 5K words of blissful, incredible schmoop set on the day Dean is turning 50 and the boys are finally retiring. The fic describes an early morning and the tone of the writing is as serene as the time of day. That serenity lends itself beautifully to a feeling of history for the boys that we didn't get to see but that we can imagine; a history that bound them irrevocably together in love. And then there is early morning sex. You really can't be asking for more.
And then there is time to kill today

| BLEACH ep.228: bleach babes in bikinis (SPOILER ALERT) |
[ | 07/18/2009 @ 05:57PM ] |
fan service galore. is the only way to describe this episode.
the shinigami women's association decide to go to a beach in the real world after byakushi goes shikai on the pool they built in his backyard without his permission.
all the girls are there. in bikinis.
and ukitake fainted.
okay, so that's probably not how things actually went but the episode was fun and showed enough skin that it distracted the viewers with another filler to keep the anime from catching up to the manga.
ukitake-taichou took a nap. and he was helpless. in a sand coffin.
ikkaku was in a bright red loincloth. with a strategically placed crab (by yachiru-chan, of course).
we learn where rukia gets her artistic talents from.
and we find out who brings his sword to the beach.
fan service is fun. and nanao-chan is kawaii.
too bad she was safe from the clutches of the pink-clad sot throughout the episode.
of course we have the obligatory fight against the beach-monster hollow of the break-a-watermelon type and sado went all el directo to no avail. i was expecting a vaizard or two to make an appearance but yoruichi-san and soi-soi saved the day. too bad, sado didn't even lose his shirt.
and then we learn that one of the gotei 13's requirements is a sick sense of humor for their captains as the watermelon-hollow turns out to be something else entirely.
it cracked me up and of course sado-sama once again proved his superior intellect by making the only comment that cut to the heart of the matter:
"What's the point?"
absolutely nothing. but beaches and bikinis and watermelons go together.
let's forgive the producers for delaying our dose of bleach blood and gore since this filler really was FUN.
enjoy!

| An end has a start by ana_grrl (Gen) |

Fandom: Firefly Pairing: Gen, Jayne, Simon Length: 4800 Author on LJ: ana_grrl Website: Ana Fic
Why this must be read: There's zombies, snark, apocalyptic undertones, and it's written by ana_grrl. What more could a reader want?
Set post Miranda, the Firefly 'Verse has another problem - there's a zombie outbreak. The story told from Jayne's POV, is interspersed with a history of how the zombie threat came about. I love the contrast between the scientist/politician's attitude and that of Simon and Jayne as they fight off the zombies. As usual the author provides spot on characterisations combined with a believable and totally readable story.

I'm a 24 year old art major who lives in a tiny, tiny town of less than 500 (unless you count the cows). I'm happily taken by a wonderful man who works with explosives. I love art, writing, reading, languages, music, dance, cooking, and pretty much all things creative. I have very little common sense and believe all people are good until proven otherwise. I am a Trekkie who also loves Star Wars. I play too many video games and not enough D&D right now. I also like cartoons and anime. I'd like to get to know some of the people on my friends list too. :)

All of the videos are now up. I think. I kept finding things in folders I didn't know existed so it's highly possible there are still videos hiding somewhere. There are a bunch of older videos that were never added to the original media post mixed in the new posts. The most recent BND2 video, behind the scenes with Patrick the helicopter pilot in Open Happiness, and Pete on Carson are all there too.
Links to all the media posts are under the header. Enjoy. Hotlink and I will find you and poke you with a spork until you are so annoyed your head explodes.
If you are wondering what happened to video xyz, my dog ate it. Really.

Motörhead - 1916 |
] |
“Samson lay groaning about twenty yards beyond the front of the trench. Several attempts were made to rescue him. He had been very badly hit. Three men got killed in these attempts; two officers and two men wounded. In the end his own orderly managed to crawl out to him. Samson sent him back saying that he was riddled through and not worth rescuing; he sent his apologies to the Company for making such a noise…
At dusk, we all went out to rescue the wounded, leaving only the sentries in the line. The first dead body I came upon was Samson’s, hit in seventeen places. I found that he had forced his knuckles in his mouth to stop himself crying out and attracting any more men to their death.”
